Dr. Olanrewaju Abdulwasii Oladejo is an accomplished academic and practitioner specializing in Peace and Security Psychology, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Humanitarian Studies and Deradicalization. He currently serves as a Lecturer I and Student Advisor in the Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies at the University of Ibadan, where he has been a dedicated faculty member since 2017.
Dr. Oladejo's academic journey is marked by a series of distinguished qualifications from the University of Ibadan, where he earned a B.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling (2005), an M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology (2008), and a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology (2015). He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Development from the Earth Institute, Columbia University (2009), and an M.Sc. in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology (2022).
His professional credentials are further enhanced by a Professional Certificate in Mediation and Conciliation from the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) obtained in 2018. Dr. Oladejo has been recognized for his academic excellence with a Federal Government Scholarship in 2003 and has been an active member of several learned societies, including the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), and the Young African Leadership Initiative Network.
Dr. Oladejo's teaching portfolio includes advanced courses in Peace and Conflict Studies, Strategic Studies, Humanitarian and Refugee Studies, and Negotiation, Mediation, and Arbitration. He has supervised numerous postgraduate projects, contributing significantly to the development of future leaders in his field.
In his research, Dr. Oladejo has explored critical issues such as import and impact of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions on operational competence of Armed Forces Personnel across different levels and services; crime and criminal tendencies including implications of cybercrime and campus cultism on national security. His ongoing studies focus on topics like the psychosocial support for Nigerian Libya returnees and non-kinetic approach in counter-terrorism exploits.
He has contributed immensely towards community development through research, training and advocacy in several areas as listed above. In his areas of specialization, he has published widely; including chapters in books and articles in high-impact factor in on and offshore journals. Notable works include studies on emotional intelligence in ADR, the impact of community guard operations and the dynamics of trans-border crimes.
An active participant in international and national conferences, Dr. Oladejo has attended and presented at numerous workshops, seminars and conferences showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
